Railways Unveils Master Plan For Pune-Baramati Route

Pune Railway Division Introduces QR Code-Based Identity Cards To Curb Illegal Vendors
In a significant development, the Union Railway Ministry has announced a comprehensive master plan for the Pune-Baramati route. The plan, aimed at enhancing rail connectivity and boosting economic growth, was revealed by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in response to a query by MP Supriya Sule.
The master plan includes several key projects, such as the construction of a mega terminal in Uruli, total redevelopment of the Pune railway station, and turning the Shivajinagar station into a terminal. Additionally, a third and fourth line will be constructed between Pune and Lonavla, and a new line will be laid between Pune and Ahmednagar .
Vaishnaw also announced that the Railways will invest a whopping Rs 1.6 lakh crore in various projects across Maharashtra. The minister assured that the Railways will reconsider the reduction of stops at stations like Daund, Nira, Baramati, and Jejuri, which had been reduced from 80 to 40 .
Sule had praised the Union Railway Ministry for its commendable work on cleanliness in Maharashtra, and had requested the minister to increase the stoppages at stations like Daund junction to boost economic growth .
Pune railway officials confirmed that work on many of the projects mentioned in the master plan is already underway or will begin soon. The officials stated that they are working with the state government on the third and fourth line between Pune and Lonavla.
