Pune, June 26, 2026: Pune Metro once again demonstrated its commitment to passenger safety and customer service by recovering a bag containing gold jewellery and a lost wallet in two separate incidents within minutes, thanks to the prompt action of its staff, CCTV surveillance and efficient communication systems.

Bag Containing Gold Jewellery Recovered in 30 Minutes

In the first incident, a woman passenger, Amruta Rajesh Rathod, accidentally exchanged her black handbag with another similar-looking bag while travelling through Pune Railway Station Metro Station on Thursday.

The bag contained approximately 2.5 tolas of gold jewellery along with other valuable belongings. After receiving information about the mix-up, Swargate Metro Station Security Supervisor Deepak Hajare immediately alerted the Security Control Room.

Recognising the seriousness of the matter, Senior Deputy General Manager (Security) Kulkarni directed the security team to launch an immediate search operation.

A detailed review of CCTV footage at Pune Railway Station Metro Station revealed that the bags had been mistakenly exchanged during baggage scanning. Further investigation showed that the other passenger, identified as Asmita, had travelled towards Ramwadi and alighted at Kalyani Nagar Metro Station.

Using CCTV surveillance, metro officials tracked her return journey to Pune Railway Station. PRS Supervisor Dashrath Munjal intercepted her near the baggage scanning area, while Security Manager Atul Datta contacted her over the phone to verify the bag.

Within 30 minutes, the search operation was successfully completed. At around 6.30 pm, both passengers were called to the Station Controller’s office at Pune Railway Station Metro Station, where their respective bags were safely returned.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Security Manager Atul Datta, with the support of Supervisors Vijay Bhosale and Hanuman Kale, along with CCTV Operator Bharat Bhoir.

Lost Wallet Returned in Just 19 Minutes

In another incident at Ramwadi Metro Station, a passenger accidentally left his wallet at the Ticket Office Machine (TOM) counter at around 6.32 am. Another passenger unknowingly picked up the wallet.

After realising the wallet was missing upon reaching the platform, the passenger immediately informed the Customer Facilitation Assistant (CFA).

The CFA alerted the Station Controller at 6.41 am, who quickly reviewed CCTV footage and identified the passenger carrying the wallet. As the train had not yet departed, the Station Controller and a security guard boarded the train, located the passenger and recovered the wallet.

The wallet was returned to its rightful owner at 6.51 am—just 19 minutes after it was reported missing. The passenger thanked the Pune Metro staff for their swift response and efficient handling of the situation.

The recovery operation was carried out by Station Controller Bhushan Lokhande, Security Guard Vishwas Lekawale and Customer Facilitation Assistant Avdhut Khandve.
