Pune Book Festival 2024: A Celebration of Words and Culture
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the Pune Book Festival 2024 at Fergusson College on December 14. The festival, which runs until December 22, will feature the theme ‘Celebrating Words, Cultures, and Connections’.
The event promises a vibrant lineup with over 600 stalls showcasing books across genres, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s literature, self-help, and academic works. Titles in Indian and global languages will be available, catering to multilingual readers.
A key highlight is the unveiling of a knowledge banner, celebrating the contributions of saints, revolutionaries, and social reformers from Pune. This initiative involves students from 101 colleges affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Renowned literary figures, including authors, poets, editors, and artists, will lead panel discussions, book launches, and cultural events. Activities for children, such as storytelling workshops, are also on the schedule.
The National Book Trust (NBT) is set to deepen Pune’s literary legacy by relocating its Mumbai office to the city. BJP MLA Chandrakant Patil made this announcement during the inauguration of the Pune Book Festival office and the groundbreaking ceremony for exhibition stalls last month.
Organisers expect around 7.5 lakh visitors at the festival. With its inclusive programming, the event aims to strengthen Pune’s status as a cultural and intellectual hub.
The festival offers a unique opportunity for readers, writers, and culture enthusiasts to explore diverse ideas and traditions.
