Baramati MP Supriya Sule on Wednesday praised the Union Railway Ministry for its efforts in maintaining cleanliness in trains.. During the ongoing winter session of Parliament, she also raised concerns about reduced train stoppages at key stations in the state.

Sule said, “In Maharashtra, the Railway Minister’s work is commendable. I would like to congratulate the team for their efforts when it comes to cleanliness.”

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw thanked Sule for her appreciation and credited the progress to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sule highlighted a significant reduction in train stoppages at stations such as Daund, Nira, Baramati, and Jejuri. She noted that the number of trains stopping at Daund Junction had dropped from 80 to 40. Sule urged the minister to increase these stoppages, emphasizing their importance for local economic growth.

Vaishnaw responded by outlining a master plan for the Pune-Daund region. “We are developing a mega terminal at Uruli, redeveloping Pune Railway Station, turning Shivajinagar Station into a terminal, and building a third and fourth line between Pune and Lonavla. Additionally, we are constructing a new line between Pune and Ahmednagar,” he said.

He assured that the Railway Ministry is investing ₹1.6 lakh crore in Maharashtra projects and would reconsider train stoppages.

Pune railway officials stated that work on many of these projects is already underway or will begin soon.
