Bengaluru Police arrest techie’s wife and family members on charges of abetment to suicide; investigation intensifies.

BENGALURU: In a significant development in the Bengaluru techie suicide case, the police have arrested Nikita Singhania (the deceased’s wife), along with her mother Visha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania, for alleged abetment of suicide. The trio, arrested from Gurugram and Prayagraj respectively, were produced in court and are currently in judicial custody.

The deceased,  Atul Subash, 34-year-old tech professional, died by suicide, triggering national outrage and a thorough police investigation. Bengaluru Police identified Nikita Singhania as Accused 1 (A1), while her mother and brother were named as Accused 2 (A2) and Accused 3 (A3).

Arrest and Court Proceedings

A police team arrested Nikita from Gurugram, while her mother and brother were traced to Prayagraj. Following their arrests on Saturday morning, they were brought to Bengaluru and produced in court, where they were remanded to judicial custody.

The accused family members have already applied for anticipatory bail, maintaining their innocence in connection to the case.

Investigations Continue

Bengaluru Police have intensified their investigation, with a team visiting Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, the family’s native place, to gather further details. Authorities also revealed that the role of Sushil Singhania, a relative of Nikita, is under scrutiny. Efforts are underway to trace his whereabouts to determine his involvement in the case.

An FIR was filed earlier, naming Nikita and her family members in connection with the suicide. Police are now focusing on gathering evidence to strengthen their case.

The tragic incident sparked public outrage, drawing attention to allegations of abetment and harassment leading to the techie’s death. Bengaluru Police remain tight-lipped on specific details but confirmed that all arrested individuals are central to the investigation.
