4-Year-Old Boy Killed by Speeding Car in Mumbai; Teen Driver Arrested
Mumbai: A tragic accident in the Wadala area near Ambedkar College claimed the life of a four-year-old boy, Ayush Laxman Kinvade, after he was struck by a speeding Hyundai Creta driven by a 19-year-old, Sandeep Gole, a resident of Vile Parle. The boy’s family, who live on the footpath, was devastated by the incident. Ayush’s father works as a laborer, according to the police.
The incident highlights growing concerns over road safety in Mumbai. It follows another devastating accident on December 9 in Kurla, where an electric bus operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking lost control and crashed into pedestrians and vehicles. That crash resulted in seven fatalities, 42 injuries, and damage to over 20 vehicles, with the scene captured on CCTV.
Maharashtra remains among the states with the highest number of road accidents, according to a recent report by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Further investigations into the Wadala accident are ongoing.
