Kambli has been battling multiple health issues in recent months. Just days before his hospitalization, he attended the unveiling of the statue of his mentor, Ramakant Achrekar, at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
Speaking about his struggles, Kambli revealed that he had faced a severe urinary issue about a month ago, which led to a prior hospitalization. “I was having a urine problem; it was just flowing. My son, Jesus Cristiano, helped me get back on my feet. My 10-year-old daughter and my wife also supported me. This happened when I started feeling dizzy and collapsed. The doctor advised me to get admitted,” Kambli shared.
The cricketer also disclosed undergoing two heart surgeries in 2013, with financial assistance from his former teammate Sachin Tendulkar. Despite his health battles, Kambli credited his family for their unwavering support during these challenging times.
After news of his recent health crisis emerged, several members of India’s iconic 1983 World Cup-winning team, including Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar, extended their support. Reports suggest discussions about rehabilitation are underway to aid his recovery.
