Pune Policeman Suspended For Accepting Bribes From Hookah Bar In Lulla Nagar
A policeman in Pune has been suspended for allegedly accepting monthly bribes from hookah bars, allowing them to operate illegally. Beat Marshal Harishchandra Rajaram Pawar was suspended after an investigation revealed that he was receiving Rs 6,000 monthly as “protection money” from a hookah bar owner.
The action was taken after a raid on Vegeta Fine Dine & Lounge in Lulla Nagar, where hookah pots were seized and a case was registered against the owner. Further investigation led to the suspension of Pawar, who was attached to the Wanowrie Police Station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Dr. Rajkumar Shinde issued the suspension order after receiving a report from Wanowrie Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange. The incident has raised concerns about corruption within the police department and the need for stricter action against such practices.
