Maharashtra Government Cancels Republic Day School Holiday. Read Details HereÂ
The Maharashtra School Education Department has decided to cancel the Republic Day holiday for schools. A circular issued on Tuesday mandates that instead of granting a holiday, schools must organize patriotic programs to instill a sense of nationalism among students.
Traditionally, students were given a holiday after the flag hoisting ceremony on January 26. However, starting from 2025, students will be required to participate in various activities and events organized within the school.
The circular directs all government and private schools to celebrate Republic Day with day-long patriotic-themed programs, including competitions and events such as flag hoisting, morning rallies, elocution contests, poetry recitations, dance performances, art competitions, essay writing, sports events, and exhibitions.
The initiative aims to create a sense of national pride by educating students about India’s history, culture, and future. District Education Officers and inspectors have been tasked with ensuring the implementation of these directives.
