Lonavala: Devotees Attacked By Bees At Aai Ekvira Fort On New Year's Day In Pune
Lonavala, January 2, 2025: Devotees at Aai Ekvira Fort in Lonavala faced an unexpected attack by a swarm of bees on the first day of the New Year. The incident occurred in the afternoon, causing panic among the gathered devotees.
Reports suggest that the bees were agitated by incense sticks used during a ceremonial procession. The smoke, possibly containing chemical elements, is believed to have triggered the attack. A video of the incident, showing devotees taking cover and others recording the event, has since gone viral on social media.
On New Year’s Day, a large number of devotees had queued for darshan at the temple. A group from Mumbai’s Colaba brought a ceremonial palanquin with incense sticks, which led to the release of smoke that disturbed the bees. After the attack, devotees were seen scrambling for safety, though the temple administration quickly restored order within half an hour.
While some devotees were stung by the bees, no severe injuries were reported. Temple authorities assured visitors that the situation was under control and expressed relief that no major harm occurred.
