Pune: Acting on a tip-off, Pune police officials from Wanowrie police station have uncovered a major racket involving the preparation and use of counterfeit documents such as Aadhaar cards, ration cards, and property records. These fraudulent documents were being used to obtain bail for accused individuals in serious criminal cases.
Police Inspector S Tonay, along with officers Sandeep Salve, Somnath Kamble, and Jadhav from Wanowrie Police Station, conducted surveillance and apprehended six suspects while two others managed to escape. The gang used forged documents, including fake photographs, to file for bail in court.
The accused were attempting to secure bail for Bachchan Singh Bhong, who is currently imprisoned for four crimes registered at Kondhwa Police Station. The arrested individuals have been identified as: Santosh Kumar Shankar Telang – Resident of Shewalwadi, Pune, Jitendra Shivram Kargutkar – 39 years old, resident of Diva East, Thane, Sanjay Manohar Padwal – 42 years old, resident of Mulund West, Mumbai, Subhash Shankar Totre – 40 years old, resident of Khed district, Pune, Dnyaneshwar Bhika Shinde – 55 years old, resident of Papalwadi, Khed, Pune and Sujit Mahendra Sakpal – 36 years old, resident of Mulund West, Mumbai.
Two suspects remain on the run Farhan alias Bablu Sheikh, resident of Hadapsar, Pune and Dhamale alias Shinde, resident of Moshi.
A case has been filed at Wanwadi Police Station under provisions of IPC Sections 319(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3), 340(2), and 3(5). Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the absconding suspects.
