Maharashtra Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Likely on June 11; IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 15 Districts
Maharashtra, June 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for 15 districts across Maharashtra for June 11, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds as monsoon activity intensifies across the state.
According to the weather department, one district in the Konkan region, two in Western Maharashtra, two in Marathwada, and ten districts in Vidarbha have been placed under a Yellow Alert. Several other parts of the state are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.

In the Konkan region, Palghar district has issued a Yellow Alert for hot and humid conditions during the day, with the possibility of thunderstorms and rain accompanied by strong winds in the evening. Ratnagiri district has been placed under a rainfall alert, while parts of Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, and Sindhudurg are likely to experience light to moderate showers.
In Western Maharashtra, Kolhapur and Satara districts are under a Yellow Alert due to the likelihood of rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. The IMD has also forecast light to moderate rainfall in parts of Pune, Sangli, and Solapur districts.
For the Marathwada region, Beed and Dharashiv districts have been issued a Yellow Alert. Thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate rainfall are expected in these areas. Meanwhile, parts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, and Latur districts may witness light to moderate rain.
Vidarbha is expected to receive the most intense weather activity. The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal districts. These areas may experience heavy rain spells accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
In North Maharashtra, light rainfall is likely over the next few days, while maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 30°C and 38°C.
Meteorologists have advised residents to stay updated with official weather bulletins, as changing atmospheric conditions could lead to sudden increases in rainfall intensity in some areas. Authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions, particularly in regions under alert, and avoid venturing out during thunderstorms and heavy rain spells.
