Pune: Bibwewadi Police have arrested a youth who assaulted a pedestrian and stole his mobile phone. Based on CCTV footage from the scene, the accused was tracked and taken into custody. Police recovered 10 high-end mobile phones worth ₹2.5 lakh from his possession. The arrested individual has been identified as Tanmay Prithviraj Bhaisade (19), a resident of Upper Indiranagar, Bibwewadi. The case was filed by Sandeep Rathod (24), a resident of Anandnagar Society, Bibwewadi, at the Bibwewadi Police Station.

According to the police, the incident occurred on December 27 when Sandeep Rathod was heading home in the evening. In the Bibwewadi area, he noticed a group of four individuals assaulting a young man. When he intervened, the group attacked him, stole his mobile phone from his pocket, and one of them hit him on the head with a stone, leaving him injured.

Following an investigation, the police analyzed CCTV footage and used technical data to identify the accused, Bhaisade. During questioning, it was revealed that he had stolen 10 mobile phones. Further investigations uncovered two additional mobile theft cases linked to him in the Bibwewadi area.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde, with Senior Police Inspector Shankar Salunkhe, Police Inspector Manojkumar Londhe, Sub-Inspectors Vivek Misal, Ashok Yewale, and team members Sanjay Gaikwad, Santosh Jadhav, Vishal Jadhav, Ashish Gaikwad, Shivaji Yewale, Nitin Dhotre, Sumeet Takpere, and Jyotish Kale.
