A 37-year-old woman in Pune has filed a complaint with the Mundhwa police, alleging that she was allegedly raped and cheated of ₹38 lakh by a man who posed as a high-ranking government official. The accused contacted the woman through a marriage registration website and gained her trust by promising to marry her.

According to the police, the woman had registered on the marriage registration website in August last year. The accused contacted her and expressed his willingness to marry her. After gaining her trust, he met her and pretended to be a government official. He then allegedly raped her and took ₹38 lakh from her, saying he needed the money to invest in land purchase.

When the woman asked him about their marriage plans, he began evading her. Realizing she had been cheated, the woman approached the Mundhwa police and filed a complaint. The police have registered a case against the accused for rape and cheating.

The police are yet to arrest the accused, but they have launched a manhunt to track him down. The incident has sent shockwaves in the area, and residents are demanding strict action against the accused.
