Maharashtra: Eight Killed, 13 Injured In Fatal Nashik Flyover Accident; CM Announces Financial Aid For Victims' Families
A tragic accident occurred on the flyover on the Mumbai-Agra Highway in Nashik on Sunday night, claiming the lives of five people and injuring 13 others. The accident took place when a goods vehicle collided with a tempo carrying iron rods, causing severe damage. The iron rods, which were not marked with any warning signs, spilled out of the tempo and entered the other vehicle, resulting in the fatal crash.
The incident occurred around 8:00 PM near the Dwarka Chowk area on the flyover. The victims, all residents of Nashik, were on their way back after visiting a religious site in Dhrangav. They were from the Sidco and Ambad areas of Nashik and were related to one another. The collision caused extensive damage to the front of the goods vehicle, and the rod-laden tempo was the cause of the accident.

The injured have been admitted to both government and private hospitals. The authorities have confirmed the identities of the deceased as Chetan Pawar, Santosh Mandlik, Atul Mandlik, Darshan Ghat, and Yash Kharat, all from the Sidco and Ambad areas. Police sources have indicated that the death toll may rise, as some of the injured are in critical condition. The accident caused a significant traffic jam, with vehicles lined up for three to four kilometers.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed condolences regarding the victims of the accident on the Nashik-Mumbai highway and paid heartfelt tributes. The families of the deceased will be provided financial assistance of ₹5 lakh, and the government will cover the medical expenses of the injured, he added.
