Pune, January 13, 2025: Mahavitaran has issued a warning to the public to stay cautious around high and low-voltage power lines, transformers, feeder pillars, and other electrical equipment while celebrating the kite festival on Makar Sankranti. The company advised against attempting to remove kites or manjha (kite strings) entangled in electrical wires and equipment.

In both urban and rural areas, Mahavitaran’s high and low-voltage power lines, transformers, feeder pillars, and other electrical systems are located in public spaces. There is a risk of kites or manjha getting caught in these electrical systems while flying kites. However, under no circumstances should citizens, especially children, attempt to remove the tangled kites or strings using metal rods or sticks. Touching electrical equipment or climbing on it while trying to retrieve a kite can result in a severe electric shock.

Additionally, since the kite string often contains metallic coatings, the risk of electrical accidents, including loss of life or power outages due to short circuits, is heightened. Mahavitaran urges citizens, especially children and young people, to celebrate the kite festival in safe, open fields away from electrical systems. Parents should ensure children fly kites safely and refrain from attempting to retrieve any entangled kites or manjha.

Mahavitaran also encourages the public to contact their 24/7 helplines at 1912, 18002123435, or 18002333435 for urgent assistance.
