TVS Launches Jupiter CNG: Promises 226 km Range, Eco-Friendly Mobility, and Affordable Running Costs
As India strives to become more eco-friendly and reduce its carbon footprint, the launch of the new CNG-powered TVS Jupiter aligns perfectly with the country’s vision for sustainable transportation. Marking it as TVS’s first CNG two-wheeler and the second CNG two-wheeler model globally, this introduction aims to cater to environmentally conscious consumers while setting a new benchmark in the scooter market. Here’s a quick summary of the features of the Jupiter CNG.
The scooter retains a design and style similar to the TVS Jupiter 125, making it difficult to distinguish as a CNG model from a distance. The real difference becomes apparent only when you open the underseat storage.
It comes with a 1.4 kg CNG tank located in the underseat storage, which has significantly reduced the available storage space. Additionally, the CNG tank has a small opening that displays a pressure gauge, allowing you to check the remaining CNG level in the tank.
The scooter comes with a CNG tank and a 2-liter petrol tank located on the floorboard. Together, these tanks provide a claimed range of 226 km, with the manufacturer stating that the scooter can travel 84 km on just 1 kg of CNG.
The Jupiter CNG is equipped with a 124.8cc single-cylinder engine that produces 7.1 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 9.4 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. According to TVS, this scooter can reach a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
Aside from the engine, the rest of the scooter remains unchanged from the petrol-powered Jupiter 125, including its design, ergonomics, features, wheels, and braking system.
The launch of this scooter in India is anticipated by late 2025 or early 2026. The initiative by Indian manufacturers to develop more CNG two-wheelers is positive and will contribute to lowering carbon emissions.
Currently, the only CNG two-wheeler available is the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike, so the introduction of the Jupiter CNG will provide customers with another option.
