Pimpri-Chinchwad, January 29, 2025: In response to the increasing cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) reported in certain areas of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Municipal Corporation’s Water Supply Department has issued an advisory urging residents to take precautions regarding drinking water safety.

The civic body has recommended the following measures to prevent water contamination and reduce the risk of infection:

  1. Regular Cleaning of Water Tanks – Housing societies must ensure their water storage tanks are cleaned at least twice a year.
  2. Testing Borewell and Well Water – Water from borewells and wells should be tested before consumption.
  3. Tankers and Water Quality – Societies must verify the source of tanker water and check its quality before use.
  4. Avoid Mixing Water Sources – Drinking water should not be mixed with tanker-supplied water in storage tanks.
  5. Quality Check for Packaged Water – Residents must ensure the quality of 20-liter water jars before consumption.
  6. Boil and Filter Water – As a precaution, all drinking water should be boiled and filtered before use.

The Municipal Corporation has urged citizens to follow these guidelines strictly to minimize health risks. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and have assured necessary measures to curb the outbreak.
