Pune, February 6, 2025 – A 32-year-old female journalist from Delhi has accused an Indian Air Force (IAF) Squadron Leader of repeatedly raping her under the false promise of marriage. The accused, a 35-year-old officer currently posted at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, allegedly assaulted the victim in a private lodge and his bachelor accommodation.
The incident surfaced after the victim filed a complaint with the Wanawadi police. Based on her statement, a case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, on charges including rape, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult.
According to the victim, she had registered on a defense matrimonial site in December 2024, where she connected with the accused. After exchanging contact details, they started communicating via WhatsApp. She traveled to Pune on December 16 to meet him at his AFMC accommodation, where he allegedly assaulted her during the night.
The following morning, the officer reassured her of marriage before dropping her off at the AFMC gate. However, after returning to Mumbai, the victim found his behavior increasingly distant. She confronted him about his intentions, but he continued to make false assurances.
On December 21, she returned to Pune for further discussions on marriage, but he failed to meet her as planned. The next day, they met at a mall, where he allegedly consumed alcohol, verbally abused her, and admitted to having no intention of marrying her. He also threatened to either abandon her or enter into a contractual marriage only to divorce her later. Later, under the pretense of reconciliation, he lured her back and allegedly assaulted her again.
After he began avoiding her and eventually blocked all contact, the victim approached the police for justice. Despite the case being registered, the accused has not yet been arrested. Police Sub-Inspector Pallavi Doke is leading the investigation as calls for swift action and justice for the victim continue to grow.
