Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Cracks Down On 7 Unauthorized RO Plants And 20 ATM Water Plants Amid GBS Outbreak
Pimpri, February 11, 2025 – In an effort to curb the spread of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched a strict crackdown on unauthorized private RO plants and ATM water plants that bottle contaminated water.
As part of this initiative, inspections were carried out across the city, leading to action against seven RO plants and 20 ATM water plants found operating illegally. The municipal authorities have issued immediate shutdown orders to the operators of these plants.
Providing details about the action, PCMC’s Chief Engineer of the Water Supply Department, Pramod Ombhase, stated that the drive will continue to ensure public health and prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
