Pune: The residents of NIBM Annexe, Mohammadwadi, have raised concerns over the increasing crime rate in the area and are urging the authorities to install CCTV cameras at key locations. The demand comes in light of growing incidents of theft, encroachments, and other illegal activities, which have left locals feeling unsafe.

In a letter addressed to the Home Secretary of Maharashtra, resident Jaymala Dhankikar has highlighted the urgent need for surveillance in specific areas prone to criminal activities. The proposed locations for CCTV installation include:

  • Anandvan Gate to SM Ghule Chowk – A key stretch requiring constant monitoring.
  • SM Ghule Chowk to Kingston Atlantis and Archana Paradise – Prone to encroachments and unauthorized activities.
  • SM Ghule Chowk to Dorabjee Heritage Mall – A high-traffic area in need of safety measures.
  • Dorabjee Heritage Mall to Marvel Sangria Entrance – A vulnerable zone for criminal incidents.

The letter also urges the authorities to review crime records from the Kondhwa Police Station to assess the severity of the situation. With CCTV surveillance, residents believe that law enforcement can deter criminal activities, improve public safety, and create a more secure environment.
