Passengers At Pune Airport Struggle With Cab Shortages, Forced Into Costly Premium Rides

Travelers at Pune Airport’s AeroMall continue to face difficulties securing regular cabs, with many complaining about frequent ride cancellations and pressure to book premium options at significantly higher fares.

Passengers report that drivers often cancel bookings after inquiring about the destination, leaving them with no choice but to opt for expensive premium services. Some travelers shared experiences of long waiting times, overcrowded pick-up points, and unexpected fare hikes. One flyer detailed how repeated cancellations forced them to pay for a premium ride after a prolonged wait, raising suspicions of a coordinated tactic.

The issue is particularly severe during late evening and early morning hours, with passengers sometimes waiting over 30 minutes for a ride. AeroMall authorities have attempted to address the problem by implementing a PIN-based system for premium cabs. However, delays persist as regular cabs remain in short supply.

Officials deny any malpractice, citing a shortage of regular cabs as the primary reason for delays. They assert that action will be taken against drivers who repeatedly cancel rides. Despite these assurances, passengers continue to call for better cab availability and fair pricing at Pune Airport.
