Pune: Major Road Projects By PMRDA To Ease Traffic Woes In Hinjewadi IT Park & Other Industrial Hubs

Maharashtra to Enforce 'No PUC, No Fuel' Rule to Combat Vehicular Pollution
Pune, February 20, 2025 – The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated long-term measures to tackle the growing traffic congestion in Hinjewadi IT Park and various industrial zones. As urbanization and industrial expansion continue, inadequate infrastructure has led to severe traffic bottlenecks, affecting productivity and logistics.
PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase has proposed direct highway connectivity for key industrial hubs, including Hinjewadi IT Park, Ranjangaon, and Pirangut industrial areas.
Several new road projects have been planned:
- Ranjangaon Industrial Zone: A 12 km road upgrade costing ₹19.9 crore to improve connectivity with Shirur Rural Highway.
- Hinjewadi IT Park: Development of multiple roads, including a 1.5 km, 36-meter-wide road costing ₹13 crore and a 3.5 km stretch costing ₹30 crore.
- Pirangut Industrial Area: Construction of a 7.1 km road from Uravade to Hinjewadi Phase 3 with an estimated cost of ₹45 crore.
In total, nearly 60 km of new roads will be built at a projected cost of ₹203 crore, aiming to alleviate daily traffic congestion that costs employees and industries valuable time. While these initiatives promise relief, timely execution will be crucial in delivering long-term benefits to Pune’s industrial ecosystem.
