Pune: MLA Hemant Rasane Announces Flex-Free Kasba After Achieving Garbage-Free Status
Pune: After successfully making Kasba a garbage-free constituency, MLA Hemant Rasane has now pledged to make it free from illegal flex banners. Announcing his initiative at a press conference on Monday, Rasane stated that no unauthorized flex banners would be allowed in public spaces across the Kasba Assembly constituency.
Following the assembly elections, MLA Rasane undertook several initiatives to address waste management issues in Kasba. As part of the Clean, Beautiful, and Developed Kasba campaign, he and sanitation workers conducted a study tour of Indore, a city that has consistently topped the Swachh Bharat rankings for seven years. Rasane highlighted that Indore’s success is based on four key factors—planned and technology-driven governance, strong political will, public participation, and a commitment to eliminating illegal flex banners.
Rasane emphasized that ensuring a flex-free constituency is a small but significant step toward improving cleanliness, public health, environmental protection, and traffic management while enhancing the overall aesthetics of the area.
Development Priorities for Kasba
In addition to the flex-free initiative, Rasane has outlined a five-year development roadmap for the constituency, which includes:
- Revitalization of Shaniwar Wada, a historical symbol of the Maratha Empire.
- Traffic decongestion through underground tunnels from Sarasbaug to Shaniwar Wada (Bajirao Road) and from Shaniwar Wada to Swargate (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road).
- Integrated development of Sarasbaug and Peshwe Park to enhance public spaces.
- Redevelopment of Pune Municipal Corporation’s Dr. Kotnis Health Center to improve healthcare services.
- Reconstruction of unsafe buildings in Khadak Police Colony to ensure safety for residents.
- Completion of stalled government building projects near Mamledar Kacheri.
- Revamp of Pune Municipal Corporation housing complexes that are in poor condition.
- Development of Nehru Stadium into a premier sports facility.
- Comprehensive redevelopment of the MHADA housing project in Lokmanya Nagar.
- Government land allocation for the expansion of Shri Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple.
- Efforts to secure ‘B Category’ status for historic temples such as Shri Kasba Ganpati, Shri Omkareshwar Temple, and Shri Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple.
MLA Hemant Rasane reiterated his commitment to transforming Kasba into a clean, organized, and well-developed constituency, ensuring a better quality of life for its residents.
