Maharashtra Govt Increases DA by 12% For Employees
The Maharashtra government has announced a 12% hike in the dearness allowance (DA) for employees under the 5th Pay Commission. Effective from July 1, 2024, the DA has been revised from 443% to 455%, benefiting nearly 17 lakh government employees.
As per the Government Resolution (GR) issued on Tuesday, the revised DA will be disbursed in cash along with the February 2025 salary. Employees will also receive arrears for the period from July 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025.
The decision is expected to provide financial relief to state government employees, particularly amid rising inflation. An official from the state finance department confirmed that the existing procedures for DA disbursement will continue.
The additional expenditure for the increased DA will be covered under the allocated budget for salaries and allowances. For grant-in-aid institutions and Zilla Parishad employees, the expenditure will be booked under designated sub-heads for financial assistance.
This revision aligns with the state’s commitment to ensuring financial stability for its workforce. The move follows similar DA hikes implemented by other states to support employees facing inflationary pressures.
