Pune, February 27, 2025 – In a significant move to enhance tourist safety, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced the establishment of tourist police stations in Lonavala and Karla. Considering the rising number of tourists in Lonavala and devotees visiting Karla’s Ekvira Devi Temple, the state government aims to bolster security in these areas.

Pawar also stated that efforts are underway to ease traffic congestion on highways. Expansion of highways and construction of flyovers in Talegaon, Chakan, and Shikrapur will be pursued with the Union Ministry of Road Transport.

A meeting chaired by Pawar at the Mantralaya reviewed various development projects in Pune’s Maval taluka. Attended by officials from urban development, finance, public works, water supply, health, and law enforcement, the session focused on accelerating stalled projects.

For pilgrims at Ekvira Devi Temple, infrastructure improvements are in progress. A funicular ropeway project at Vehergaon has received approval, ensuring faster temple access. Pawar urged officials to expedite the construction process.

Additionally, Pawar instructed authorities to fast-track the completion of sub-district hospitals in Lonavala and Vadgaon (Kanhe) and submit proposals for pending work. A 2.6-hectare sports complex in Jambhul will also be developed with facilities for kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, football, and athletics.

Pawar emphasized the need for rapid implementation of regional water supply schemes for Karla and surrounding villages, ensuring essential infrastructure development in the region.
