Pune: A significant decision has been made regarding the Class 11 admission process in the state. Starting from the academic year 2025-26, the central online admission system will be implemented across Maharashtra, replacing the existing system that was limited to five locations.

The School Education Department has issued a government resolution regarding this change. Until now, the online admission process was conducted only in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMRDA), Pune-Pimpri-Chinchwad, Amravati, Nagpur, and Nashik municipal areas. Considering its effectiveness and as part of the Chief Minister’s seven-point “Ease of Living” initiative, the state government has approved its expansion to prevent the wastage of students’ and parents’ time, money, and effort. The implementation will be overseen by the Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, while the Education Commissioner will maintain control over the process.

Divisional Deputy Directors of Education from Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Amravati, Nashik, Aurangabad, Latur, and Kolhapur will verify registration details submitted by higher secondary schools and junior colleges, such as branch-wise divisions, grant-aided or self-financed status, subject availability, and student intake capacity. The validated data will be provided to the designated online service provider within the stipulated timeframe. The Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will handle the tender process and other necessary preparations at the state level. Additionally, guidelines for the state-wide admission process will be issued, and information about online admissions will be made available to students and parents, including audiovisual training materials if required.

Classes to Begin After Four Rounds

After completing the four regular admission rounds, Class 11 sessions will commence. Subsequently, colleges and junior colleges will open admissions for all students based on merit. Divisional Deputy Directors of Education will instruct higher secondary schools and junior colleges accordingly. The admission process will continue online until the last student is enrolled, ensuring a uniform system across the state.
