Many motorists in Pune faced major inconvenience after two authorized centers for installing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on old vehicles were shut without any prior notice.

The centers, run by Rosmerta Pvt. Ltd., were closed suddenly, leaving vehicle owners confused and stranded.
Even the Rosmerta Company and the Sub-Regional Transport Office (RTO) were unaware of the closure until citizens began complaining.

It was only after these complaints that the company and authorities took notice of the problem.

A senior citizen shared his experience, “I completed my online registration in February and paid the fee. I had selected the Sinhagad Road center and was given a slot on March 11 between 12 pm and 3 pm. I even received a message confirming my plate was ready. But when I visited the center on Tuesday, it was shut,” he said.

A leaflet was stuck on the glass door of the closed office, saying Rosmerta would assign a new center for those registered after March 7 and advised them to contact the helpline number.

However, there was no response on the helpline. “I am a senior citizen and was supposed to travel to my village in two days. Who wants this kind of trouble?” he asked.

Following the chaos, the RTO has ordered Rosmerta to provide alternative centers immediately. The company was aware of the closure but did not inform the RTO in advance. An RTO official said the closure was due to poor planning and staff shortage by the center operators.

Messages will soon be sent to drivers informing them about nearby alternative centers. A Rosmerta official confirmed the same.
