Pune, March 12 : Residents of Viman Nagar have raised concerns over the haphazard execution of sewerage line work, which has been causing severe inconvenience to commuters and locals. With trenching and road closures happening simultaneously at multiple locations, citizens allege that no clear plan is in place to manage the project efficiently.

Qaneez Sukhrani, Convenor of the Viman Nagar Citizens Forum, has written to the authorities, urging intervention from Vinayak Shinde, Deputy engineer, sewerage department, to streamline the process. While the Sewerage Department has begun laying new lines with increased capacity to accommodate the area’s growing population, residents claim that the lack of a proper schedule is leading to prolonged disruptions.

A month after discussions with officials, road digging continues unchecked at key intersections, significantly increasing travel time. Sukhrani mentioned that she had requested a detailed work schedule, including timelines for connections, chamber work, levelling, and reinstatement, but has received no response from the concerned officials.

Citizens are now calling for close monitoring of the project, as peak-hour congestion has worsened due to large-scale road closures. The situation has escalated further with a busy intersection now completely dug up, making daily commutes a challenge.
