Pune Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Man for Blackmailing Woman with Morphed Nude Photos on Instagram

Pune, March 13, 2025: The Wanowrie Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly blackmailing a woman by creating a fake Instagram profile using her name and photos, threatening to make morphed nude images viral unless she paid ₹2,000.

According to police reports, the accused, Raghuvar Balram Chaudhary, created a fake Instagram profile using the victim’s name and photos. He then demanded ₹2,000 to delete the profile, warning that failure to comply would result in the circulation of morphed nude images. When the woman refused to pay, the accused sent the altered images to her brother’s Instagram account and continued to press for money through repeated messages.

Following the woman’s complaint, a case was registered at Wanowrie Police Station under IPC Sections 77, 78, 79, 308(2) of the Indian Penal Code (2023) and IT Act Sections 66(C) and 67.

Cyber Team Traces Accused

As part of the investigation, the Wanowrie Police Cyber Team, led by Police Constables Amol Pilane and Atul Gaikwad, conducted a technical probe and traced the accused to Raghuvar Balram Chaudhary, a resident of Shindewasti, Hadapsar, Pune, originally from Bihar. A police team was deployed to track him down, and with the help of local officers, the accused was taken into custody. Upon searching his mobile phone, evidence confirming his involvement in the crime was found.

Chaudhary was arrested on March 13, 2025, and a court granted police custody remand until March 17, 2025.

Investigation Under Senior Supervision

The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of Police Inspector (Crime) Govind Jadhav of Wanowrie Police Station, with the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5), Pune City – Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wanowrie Division – Dhanaykumar Godse. Senior Police Inspector Satyajit Adamane is overseeing the investigation.

The special investigation team handling the case includes Police Inspector (Crime) Govind Jadhav, Police Sub-Inspector Ashish Jadhav, and officers Amol Pilane, Atul Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Deshmukh, Somnath Kamble, and Sujata Phulsundar.

Further investigations are ongoing.
