The wait is over! The King of Fruits – Alphonso (Hapus) Mango has finally arrived in the markets of Sindhudurg. Along with Alphonso, Pairi and other mango varieties have also made their way to the market.
This year, the season has begun on time, ensuring that mango lovers can relish the taste of Hapus throughout the season. However, the current prices remain high.
Alphonso Mango Prices: Expensive for Now
The much-awaited Alphonso mango has entered the market, sparking excitement among buyers. However, the initial prices are on the higher side, with a dozen Hapus mangoes priced at ₹1,500. Despite the steep rates, true mango lovers are not hesitating to grab their favorite fruit.
While the premium price tag makes it unaffordable for some, the real treat for common buyers is expected in April, when the rates may become more reasonable.
Price Drop Expected in May
Traditionally, mangoes arrive in the local market after Gudi Padwa due to the harvesting cycle. This year, however, the Sindhudurg markets have already received their first batch of Hapus mangoes.
Currently, Alphonso and Pairi mangoes are being sold at ₹1,400 to ₹1,500 per dozen. However, by May, the prices are expected to drop significantly to ₹400-₹500 per dozen, making them more affordable for the general public. Until then, mango lovers might have to wait for better prices.
