Roshni Nadar Malhotra Makes History as First Indian Woman in Top 10 of Hurun Global Rich List 2025
The 2025 Hurun Global Rich List also includes several other prominent Indian billionaires.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian woman to enter the top 10 of the Hurun Global Rich List 2025. With an estimated net worth of Rs 3.5 lakh crore, she now ranks as the fifth wealthiest woman in the world.
Her rise in the rankings follows a significant transfer of wealth from her father, Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies. Roshni inherited a 47 per cent stake from him, which has given her control over Vama Sundari Investments (Vama Delhi) and HCL Corp—both key entities promoting HCL Technologies. As a result, she now oversees all major strategic decisions for the $12 billion technology company.
Following this transfer, Roshni holds voting rights for 44.17 per cent of Vama Delhi’s stake and 0.17 per cent of HCL Corp’s stake in HCL Technologies. She also controls voting rights for Vama Delhi’s 12.94 per cent stake and HCL Corp’s 49.94 per cent stake in HCL Infosystems.
Prior to this change, Shiv Nadar owned 51 per cent of both Vama Delhi and HCL Corp, while Roshni owned 10.33 per cent in both entities.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra became the Chairperson of HCL Technologies in July 2020. In addition to her role at HCL, she is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which has established several renowned educational institutions in India.
The 2025 Hurun Global Rich List also includes several other prominent Indian billionaires. Gautam Adani remains the second-richest person in India and ranks 18th globally, while Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceutical holds the fourth spot in India, followed by Azim Premji of Wipro in fifth.
The 2025 list features 3,442 billionaires from 71 countries, marking a 5 per cent increase in the number of billionaires compared to the previous year. Their collective wealth has grown by 13 per cent.
