The accused doctor is identified as Dr. Rahul Gagare, an orthopedic surgeon, has denied being legally married to the woman he lived with for seven years. He claimed they were in a ‘live-in relationship.’

Following the Bombay High Court’s order, Yerawada police have registered a case against Dr. Gagare, his parents, and his sister.

According to police, the complainant and Dr. Gagare were medical college classmates. He was previously married and had told the woman that he divorced his first wife in 2013. Believing this, she married him in 2016, and they started living together. They had a son in 2018.

Over the years, the woman faced physical and mental harassment from Dr. Gagare and his family, including dowry demands, according to her complaint. Eventually, in 2024, she discovered that he had never divorced his first wife and was living with another woman.

After learning about this alleged deception, the woman approached Yerawada police in November 2024 to file a complaint. However, Dr. Gagare claimed they were never legally married and were only in a ‘live-in relationship.’ Due to the lack of a marriage certificate, the police initially did not register a case.

Last month, the woman approached the Bombay High Court through her lawyer, Advocate Satya Mulye. Following the court’s intervention, Yerawada police have now registered a case against Dr. Gagare and his family. An investigation is underway.
