Toll Tax Hike Across National Highways in India from April 1: Full Details
Starting April 1, 2025, commuters across India will face higher toll charges on all National Highways (NHs) as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) revises its toll rates. Major expressways and highways, including the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, NH-9, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, will implement new toll rates at midnight on March 31.
This marks the second toll tax increase within a year, leading to mixed reactions from daily commuters. The hike will vary based on vehicle type and route, with cars facing a ₹5–₹10 increase per trip, while heavy vehicles will see a steeper rise.

Why the Toll Hike?
The NHAI states that the increased revenue will fund road maintenance and infrastructure improvements across India. However, the frequent hikes have led to frustration among daily commuters and transporters.
While many acknowledge the importance of better highway facilities, others believe frequent toll increases burden common citizens and transport businesses.
The new toll rates remain in effect until March 31, 2026, after which another revision may be considered.
Stay tuned for further updates on highway tolls and transport regulations.
