Pune News: Two MBA Students Killed in Tragic Motorcycle Accident on Paud Phata Flyover
Pune: A fatal motorcycle accident claimed the lives of two management students from Madhya Pradesh in the early hours of Monday on the Paud Phata flyover. The victims, identified as Sarvesh Gopal Patil (20) and Pushkar Sudhakar Choudhary (19), were returning to Chandni Chowk after a late-night snack at Nal Stop when their high-speed sports bike crashed into the flyover’s railings around 3:15 AM.
According to Senior Inspector Sandeep Deshmane of the Kothrud police, “Their motorcycle skidded for over 10 meters after the collision. Patil, who was riding the bike, was found unconscious on the flyover, while Choudhary was initially responsive. Both were rushed to a private hospital in Erandwane, where Patil was declared dead on arrival. Choudhary succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.”
The police confirmed that no helmets were found at the accident site. “An eyewitness reported that Patil had a helmet slung on his arm, which fell off the bridge upon impact. Despite searching the area below, we could not locate it,” Deshmane added.
Authorities revealed that Patil suffered severe head injuries, while Choudhary sustained a fractured rib cage along with internal injuries. A passing car stopped at the request of the police, assisting in transporting the injured students to the hospital.
Both students were second-year MBA candidates at a Pimpri-based college and resided in Pimple Nilakh. “They had gone to Nal Stop Chowk for snacks, as eateries there open early. However, the reason for their return towards Chandni Chowk remains unknown. Their families in Burhanpur are well-off farmers,” Deshmane stated.
The tragic incident has raised concerns over road safety and the importance of helmet use among two-wheeler riders. Police have urged motorcyclists to adhere to traffic regulations and prioritize safety while riding.
