Over 66,000 Motorists Penalised For Traffic Violations In Pune During FY 2024–25
Pune – In a robust crackdown on traffic rule violations, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has taken action against 66,653 motorists in the financial year 2024–25. The offences ranged from signal jumping and over-speeding to failure to wear seat belts.
The enforcement drive was conducted by a specialised unit known as the Vayuveg Pathak (Flying Squad), comprising trained RTO inspectors focused on improving traffic discipline across the city.

- Overspeed
- Helmet
- Seat Belt
- Invalid Insurance
- Signal Jumping / Lane Cutting
- Wrong Parking
- Overloaded Goods Vehicle
- Usage Of Mobile Phone While Driving
- Without Reflector
- Without Tail Lamp/ Brake Light Not Working
- Triple Seat
- Fancy Number
These special squads patrolled high-risk zones and areas with frequent violations, employing modern surveillance tools and on-ground monitoring techniques. In several cases, vehicles were seized, and penalties were imposed on offenders.
“The aim is to instill discipline and deter repeat offenders who pose a threat to public safety,” according to RTO.
Officials stated that the initiative is part of a broader campaign to curb reckless driving and enhance road safety in Pune.
