Mahabaleshwar Gears Up For Mega Tourism Festival; Collector Calls For Seamless Coordination Ahead Of May 2–4 Event
Satara: The much-awaited Mahabaleshwar Mega Tourism Festival 2025 will be held from May 2 to May 4, drawing tourists from across Maharashtra. In preparation for the event, District Collector Santosh Patil has directed officials to ensure smooth coordination and planning to avoid any inconvenience to visitors.
At a review meeting held at the Forest Department’s Hirda Guest House in Mahabaleshwar, Collector Patil emphasized the importance of crowd and traffic control during the festival. He urged that road repair work leading to Mahabaleshwar—via Wai, Satara, and the Konkan—be completed beforehand. He also instructed that internal roads and beautification of the town should be prioritized.
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer Yashni Nagrajan, Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh, Wai Sub-Divisional Officer Rajendra Kachare, Tehsildar Tejaswini Patil, and other key officials from various departments.
To promote the festival widely and attract maximum footfall, Patil suggested leveraging multiple media platforms. He also encouraged local business participation, recommending that heritage-themed entry gates and cultural programs involve local artists. The Agriculture Department was asked to organize a Millet Festival during the event, while the Tourism and PWD departments were directed to survey key tourist points to ensure safety measures are in place.
The Police Department assured that special arrangements will be made to manage the crowd and avoid traffic jams. Cranes will be stationed to remove stalled vehicles, and damaged roadside railings in ghat areas will be repaired.
CEO Nagrajan proposed setting up stalls to help self-help groups (SHGs) sell their locally produced goods during the festival. Collector Patil also directed that disaster management staff be deployed, parking arrangements be made, and transport services like shuttle buses help tourists reach the venue.
The festival aims to celebrate Mahabaleshwar’s rich heritage, boost local livelihoods, and offer tourists a safe and memorable cultural experience.
