A trainee pilot was killed after a trainer aircraft belonging to a private aviation academy crashed in a residential area of Amreli district on Tuesday afternoon, police officials confirmed.

The incident occurred around 12:30 pm near the Shastri Nagar locality along Giriya Road, shortly after the aircraft took off from Amreli airport. According to Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kharat, the pilot was flying solo when the aircraft crashed under mysterious circumstances.

“The trainer aircraft, operated by an aviation academy based at the Amreli airport, took off with a male trainee pilot on board. The plane first hit a tree before crashing into an open plot in a residential area and catching fire. Unfortunately, the pilot died on the spot. No other injuries were reported,” said SP Kharat to Hindustan Times
