Pune: Bee Attack At Wedding In Khadkumbe Village Injures 8, Including 5-Year-Old Child
Manchar | May 6, 2025:
A joyous wedding celebration turned into a scene of chaos and panic in Khadkumbe village near Manchar when a swarm of bees attacked attendees, injuring eight people, including a five-year-old child. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon while rituals were underway, catching the gathering off guard. The injured were taken to the hospital by Shivjanmabhoomi Junnar Rescue Team and Rajkumar Chavan and his team members.
According to local sources, the bees were likely disturbed by nearby activity or smoke. As the swarm descended suddenly on the venue, guests began running in different directions to escape the stings. Among those injured, a five-year-old child sustained multiple stings and was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital in Manchar for treatment. Hospital authorities confirmed that the child is under observation and is in stable condition.
Other victims, including men and women from the wedding party, received first aid and did not require hospitalisation. Villagers and family members managed to control the situation and alert local authorities, who arrived shortly after the incident.
Health officials have advised the public to remain cautious during outdoor gatherings, especially in rural or forest-adjacent areas, and to avoid activities that may agitate bee colonies.
The wedding resumed after a brief pause, though the incident left many shaken. An investigation into the cause of the bee attack is underway.
