Pune, May 18: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday laid the foundation stone for an incubation and innovation centre in Baner, aimed at equipping youth with industry-relevant skills. The initiative is being funded by Tata Group under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Set to benefit around 7,000 students annually, the centre will offer training aligned with industry needs, helping bridge the skill gap among job-seeking youth. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has allotted one acre of land for the centre, with Tata Technologies undertaking the construction of a 22,000 square feet facility.
PMC Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale stated that the project is estimated to cost ₹279.67 crore. Of this, ₹237.72 crore will be funded by Tata Technologies, while the remaining will come from the state’s Urban Development Department.
Pawar also announced plans to expand the initiative, stating, “Two more skill centres are expected to be established at Lohegaon and Wadgaonsheri, with additional centres planned in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli.”
