The world-renowned Valley of Flowers in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district is gearing up to welcome tourists from June 1. Known for its vibrant alpine flora and stunning landscapes, the valley draws thousands of nature enthusiasts each year. In a move to streamline the experience, the Forest Department has introduced an online registration system this season, replacing the earlier manual process at Ghangaria.

Previously, travelers had to register offline upon reaching Ghangaria, a base point for the trek to the valley. Now, visitors can register and pay the entry fee from the comfort of their homes through the official portal: https://valleyofflower.uk.gov.in. The portal offers not only hassle-free registration but also key information including trekking routes, weather updates, and safety advisories.

Tarun S, Divisional Forest Officer of Nanda Devi National Park, stated that departmental teams are already on-site to review road conditions and check essential amenities like water supply. Any necessary maintenance work will be carried out ahead of the valley’s opening. The registration portal will be fully operational two days before June 1.

The entry fee for Indian visitors is Rs 200, while international tourists will be charged Rs 800. Authorities have also coordinated efforts to ensure comfortable accommodations and amenities in Ghangaria.

Discovered in 1931 by British mountaineers Frank S. Smith and R.L. Holdsworth, the Valley of Flowers has since gained international fame. Their writings introduced the world to this pristine Himalayan gem. Recognizing its ecological and cultural value, UNESCO designated it a World Heritage Site in 2005.

The best time to witness the valley in full bloom is between July and August, when rare and exotic flowers cover the landscape. Trekkers, botanists, photographers, and nature lovers from across the globe flock to experience the valley’s breathtaking beauty during this peak season.
