Pune News: Bomb Threats to Pune Railway Station, Yerwada, and Bhosari Declared Hoax
In a tense morning on Tuesday, Maharashtra police received a bomb threat call targeting major locations in Pune, including Pune Railway Station, Yerwada, and Bhosari. The call, made around 9:15 AM on the emergency helpline 112, prompted immediate action from law enforcement agencies.
Upon receiving the alert, the Pune Police Control Room quickly informed the Bund Garden Police Station. The information was further relayed to the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), triggering a large-scale security operation. Teams from the Pune City Police, GRP, RPF, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and dog squads were deployed to the mentioned sites.
Extensive searches were carried out across all three locations, but no suspicious items were discovered. Authorities later confirmed that the threat was a false alarm, though investigations remain ongoing to trace the origin of the call and identify the person responsible.
This incident comes shortly after a similar scare in Mumbai on May 19, where a man named Rajeev Singh called the emergency helpline claiming to have overheard a conversation about bombing the city. The alleged conversation reportedly took place in the JJ Marg area. In response, Mumbai Police and bomb squad units quickly cordoned off sensitive areas and conducted thorough checks.
Just like the Pune case, no explosives or dangerous items were found in Mumbai. That threat was also declared a hoax, and the caller, Rajeev Singh, now faces legal action for causing panic and misusing emergency services.
Back in Pune, police sources assured that all the threatened areas have been carefully inspected and no hazards were detected. Security has been heightened as a precaution, and efforts to trace the anonymous caller are in full swing. Authorities are determined to uncover the motive behind these false alarms and hold those responsible accountable.
