Pune: Residents of Kalyani Nagar have once again raised serious concerns about persistent waterlogging at NM Chowk on the northern side of the locality, attributing it to the absence of a proper stormwater drainage line. Despite repeated follow-ups over the years by the TSKN (Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar) and interventions from former elected representatives, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has failed to resolve the issue.

“There is simply no drainage line leading out from the NM Chowk area,” said Drayson C. Dixon, a senior resident and member of TSKN. “PMC officials have visited the site several times, but the drainage pipes remain unlaid. We will continue to pursue this matter.”

Adding to the concern,  highlighted by a resident, South Avenue also lacks functional stormwater drainage. “The gratings and traps there are just for surface appearance. A few years ago, I walked the length with a PMC engineer and explained this to him. But nothing was done after that,” he stated.

Residents are now being encouraged to escalate the issue by raising the issue to the PMC as pleas have fallen on deaf ears till now.

The TSKN team is expected to take up the issue again in coming weeks, demanding immediate intervention to prevent further flooding and infrastructure damage, especially with the monsoon approaching.
