Pune: In the wake of the Vaishnavi Hagawane suicide case, yet another disturbing incident of alleged dowry harassment has emerged from the Mhalunge area of Pimpri Chinchwad. A 22-year-old married woman, Pooja Nirwal, died by suicide after reportedly facing persistent pressure from her in-laws to bring ₹50,000 from her parents’ home.

Following the incident, Pimpri Chinchwad Police traced and arrested the two accused — Pooja’s husband Gajanan Nirwal and sister-in-law Radha Yadav — from Parbhani.

According to police reports, Gajanan and Pooja were living in Mahalunge, Pune, though Gajanan originally hails from Parbhani. It is alleged that both Gajanan and Radha repeatedly harassed Pooja to bring money from her family, which ultimately drove her to take her own life on April 27, 2025.

After the incident, the husband and sister-in-law fled, leading Pooja’s family to initially suspect foul play and claim she was murdered. Based on their complaint, a case of dowry death and harassment was registered by Pimpri Chinchwad Police, who later apprehended the duo from Parbhani.
