Pune: Over 5,000 residents of Kohinoor Viva City and adjoining societies, located on Bharat Mata Road in Dhanori, are grappling with severe civic issues caused by a neglected road and lack of a storm water drainage network. Despite repeated assurances from local authorities and multiple visits by PMC officials and the area MLA, there has been no progress on ground, leaving citizens frustrated and helpless.

The onset of the monsoon has worsened the situation. Rainwater has begun to accumulate rapidly due to the absence of a proper drainage system, entering residential premises and severely affecting daily life. In many instances, the water has seeped into electricity ducts, disrupting power supply and making several homes inaccessible to electricity. Residents now fear not just property damage but potential electrical hazards.

What adds to the concern is the prolonged inaction despite several complaints, site inspections, and promises made by authorities. “We’ve been waiting for years, and now with the rains here, our fears have turned into a harsh reality,” said a resident of the society.

The dilapidated condition of the approach road has only made matters worse, with potholes and waterlogging adding to commuting challenges. Senior citizens, children, and working professionals are all equally impacted.

The residents are now urging the PMC and elected representatives to take immediate, concrete action before the situation escalates further. For a rapidly growing area like Dhanori, the absence of basic civic infrastructure is not just disappointing—it’s unacceptable.
