A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 23-year-old engineering student near Sawant Petrol Pump on Vishrantwadi Lohegaon Road in Pune on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Ekta Bharat Patel, a resident of Vidyanagar in Pimple Gurav and a third-year student at Marathwada Mitramandal Institute of Technology.
According to the police, Patel was riding her two-wheeler and was approaching Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Chowk from the Commerzone side when she lost control of her bike and fell.
In a horrifying turn of events, she came under the rear wheel of a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) garbage collection truck that was headed towards Vishrantwadi.
The accident occurred near Sawant Petrol Pump and led to Patel’s death on the spot due to the severe nature of her injuries. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, and the mishap caused brief disruption in the area as local residents gathered in shock.
