PUNE: A 37-year-old electrician employed at Sinhagad Business School in Erandwane tragically ended his life on Tuesday, allegedly due to financial stress caused by the non-payment of salary for nearly a year. The deceased, Manoj  Bhagat, was found hanging at his residence in Jaybhawani Nagar, Kothrud, shortly after he made a video call to a colleague expressing his despair.

According to his family, Manoj had not received his salary for the past 11 months, despite being a permanent employee at the institution for 15 years. His brother Ganesh, who also works at the same school as a security guard, confirmed that he too has not been paid during this period. The financial strain reportedly pushed Manoj into depression and alcohol dependence.

On the day of the incident, Manoj asked his parents to go downstairs before making a video call to a clerk at the institute, Madhuri Vargade. During the call, he stated his intention to end his life due to salary arrears. Moments later, he died by suicide using a saree.
