Maharashtra Weather Alert For June 7: Thunderstorms, Lightning and Winds Up to 50 kmph Likely; Yellow Alert Issued for 25 Districts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 25 districts across Maharashtra as the southwest monsoon has arrived in the state and pre-monsoon activity intensifies.
Monsoon Arrives in Maharashtra
The southwest monsoon has made its entry into Maharashtra, bringing rainfall to several parts of the state. Weather officials expect the monsoon to advance further and cover more regions over the coming days. Cloudy skies, thunderstorms, gusty winds and pre-monsoon showers are likely across many districts today.
Konkan Region
Monsoon conditions have strengthened over the Konkan coast. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms and rain accompanied by strong winds in Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. Wind speeds of 30–50 kmph are expected in the region during the next few days, along with lightning activity.
For Mumbai and other parts of North Konkan, light rainfall is expected.
Madhya Maharashtra
Central Maharashtra is witnessing a transition into monsoon conditions, with hot and humid weather accompanied by the possibility of thunderstorm activity. Maximum temperatures are ranging between 33°C and 37°C. Rainfall has already been reported in parts of Pune city and surrounding areas.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Solapur.
Marathwada
Marathwada continues to experience hot conditions with partly cloudy skies. Daytime temperatures are hovering between 38°C and 41°C. Isolated thunderstorms with rain are possible, and winds may reach 30–40 kmph.
Yellow alerts have been issued for Beed, Parbhani, Latur, and Dharashiv.
North Maharashtra
Weather conditions are changing across North Maharashtra. Thunderstorms are likely in parts of Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nashik. Temperatures in the region have been touching 40°C.
The IMD has specifically warned of rain with gusty winds in Nashik and Ahmednagar.
Vidarbha
Vidarbha is expected to see widespread thunderstorm activity with lightning and strong winds. After recent spells of high temperatures, weather conditions are beginning to change across the region.
Wind speeds may reach 40–50 kmph, and districts including Nagpur and Amravati are likely to receive thunderstorms. A yellow alert has been issued for the next four days across much of Vidarbha.
Statewide Outlook
With the monsoon now active over Maharashtra, weather conditions are expected to become increasingly favorable for widespread rainfall. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely across several regions today.
Authorities have urged residents in the 25 districts under yellow alert to remain cautious during periods of lightning and strong winds, avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during thunderstorms, and follow local weather advisories.
