Pune: NCP Urges Maharashtra Govt To Investigate PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale’s Tender Approvals
Pune | May 30, 2025:
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) Pune city president Prashant Jagtap has urged the Maharashtra government to initiate a thorough investigation into the financial and policy decisions taken by Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale during his tenure.
In a formal letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, Jagtap has called for the state to release a white paper detailing all major decisions made by Bhosale since his appointment roughly a year and a half ago. Jagtap alleges that during this period—when Pune had no elected municipal representatives—Bhosale approved tenders worth thousands of crores without necessity and implemented several flawed policies.
“These policy decisions have not only caused widespread hardship to Pune residents but will also have long-term negative impacts on the city’s development,” Jagtap said.
He further pointed out that once an officer’s replacement has been appointed, it is customary for the outgoing official to refrain from making significant policy decisions. Despite the recent appointment of Mr. Naval Kishore Ram as the new PMC Commissioner, Bhosale allegedly convened urgent meetings of the Standing Committee and General Body to approve high-value tenders. Some of these proposals, Jagtap claimed, were previously objected to by the PMC Vigilance Committee.
Jagtap has demanded that all decisions made by Dr. Bhosale over the past month be immediately stayed and independently investigated. He warned that if no action is taken, the matter will be escalated to the judiciary. A complaint in this regard has already been submitted to the Lokayukta.
He also appealed to media outlets to highlight the issue and raise public awareness about the alleged misuse of administrative authority.
