Pune: Child Welfare Panel Grants Custody of Vaishnavi Hagwane’s 9-Month-Old Son to Her Mother

Pune News: Vaishnavi Hagawane Suicide Case; Chargesheet Filed Against 11 Accused
Following the death of Vaishnavi Hagwane, all eyes were on who would take care of her 9-month-old baby. Vaishnavi had died by suicide on May 16, reportedly driven by dowry harassment from her in-laws. Since then, her son had been facing uncertainty and hardship.
At present, the child is staying with Vaishnavi’s parents. However, concerns over the baby’s future had left many anxious.
A decision has now been made — the custody of Vaishnavi’s son, Janak, has been officially granted to his maternal grandmother, Swati Kasapte, Vaishnavi’s mother.
The Child Welfare Committee has appointed Swati Kasapte as the legal guardian, identifying her as a suitable caregiver. Minister Aditi Tatkare shared this information in a tweet.
